The St. Michael’s Parish Choir is an active group of 20 singers dedicated to serving the Lord by sharing and integrating our musical gifts with the assembly. Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm.
During this time we prepare for upcoming liturgies and enjoy one another’s company through song and prayer. Our music covers a wide range of genres from “chant” to “praise music.” We extend an invitation to join the choir if you love to sing. Reading music in not a necessary requirement. The choir sings at the 10:30 and 4:30 Masses on a rotating basis. Our choir season runs from September through May.
Accomplished musicians are encouraged to share their talents with our parish. Adults and students are welcome to enhance the music ministry. Woodwinds, strings, brass and percussion instruments can bring a new dimension to celebrating the liturgy.
St. Michael’s is gifted with many musicians and God may be calling you to lead the assembly in worship and prayer through music. Perhaps you love to sing, but find that a full-time commitment does not work into your busy schedule, therefore cantor schedules are arranged by individual liturgy. Singers may lead alone or in small groups. Please consider sharing your musical talents.
This choir is a volunteer group of singers who provide music for funerals throughout the year. Members are placed on a call list and are contacted by the Parish Office when needed. A rehearsal will take place one half hour prior to the funeral liturgy.
Music and Technology
St. Michael’s is very fortunate to have a screen so that all might be able to participate fully in prayer and song. The screen is a PowerPoint presentation controlled with the use of an I-Pad. The I-Pad is needed for each liturgy and this may be an opportunity to participate in your parish.
Please contact Mary Wainright, St. Michael’s Music Director, for more information about opportunities in our music program.
