Each of us has been baptized into the mystery of the Holy Spirit. We invoke the Holy Trinity every time we sign ourselves with the cross. So today we pause to acknowledge the mystery and to give thanks for the God of life who has sent the Son and the Holy Spirit for our salvation. May our Christian life together reflect the love among Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Next week, we will be The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ!
Blessings and prayers to all the Priest Jubilarians from our diocese. We all gathered the past Monday evening at St John’s Abbey for Mass and meal. It was a delightful time celebrating the beauty of the priesthood. Also, birthday greetings to Bishop Kinney as he celebrates his 80th b-day June 11: P.O. Box 1248, St Cloud, 56302; Fr Greg Lieser also celebrated his 80th b-day June 1 and Fr Tony Kroll will celebrate his 83 rd b-day June 17: they both live at the Speltz House: 308 Third St. So, Sauk Rapids, 56379.
Congrats to Deacon Lucio David as it will be wonderful to have another deacon in our parishes! It was a great honor for me to assist vesting him this past Saturday at his ordination. He will be a great blessing to our faith communities in helping us bridge any gap which exists between our English and Spanish speaking communities. Certainly no pressure Deacon David and Adela, but I believe that GOD will likely be using you all for our diocese-at-large to bridge any gap for many of our parishes! I hope and pray that everyone will join us June 18th for the 9am Mass as we will be in for a treat having him preach the Word! Remember to stay afterwards for a gathering in our Parish Center. Also, please don’t forget that our new Principal Paula Leider will be introducing herself at that Mass as well as some of our Catholic School children involved in the liturgy.
With my transfer to another assignment (Churches in Brooten, Belgrade and Elrosa) quickly approaching, know that you remain in my daily prayers. It’s hard to believe that I will be leaving as it seemed that I just arrived. June 24-25 will be my last weekend here as we must trust that this decision is what the Good LORD wants for myself, our parishes and our diocese. Each one of you have blessed me more than I could have ever asked or imagined. Good-byes are difficult as I know that our paths will cross once again. Perhaps one day, I will be blessed to return to your parishes! I know that you will be blessed to have Fr Timothy Gapinski as your new pastor! I have heard nothing but great things about him during his time as an Associate Pastor with Fr Tom Knoblach.
Our Church continues to discern how to become better missionary disciples? Thus, how best can we as Church better respond to the Hispanic/Latino presence as well as strengthen ways for us to respond to call to be missionary disciples? How to become authentic and joyful disciples that give witness to God’s love with a prophetic voice in a culturally diverse Church? All are invited to join us Sat, June 24th from 9am-3pm here at St Joseph’s School. People will begin arriving at 8:30am for registration and refreshments. We will also serve a light lunch.
Mass for Healing will take place at St Paul’s Church in Sauk Centre: June 26 th @ 7pm. Fr Greg Paffel, the pastor welcomes one and all to join us (Fraternity of Priests). Confessions will be offered at 6pm (Adoration from 4pm until Mass). The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will take place during Mass. There will be opportunities to be ‘prayed over’ following the Mass.
